Induction FAQs

What do I do after I get my invitation?
Follow the instructions listed in your email invitation from STTI headquarters.  A link will be given that will take you to the STTI website.  You will need to fill out the requested information and pay the $90 membership fee.  Make sure that you enter an email address other than your uiowa.edu address.  You DO NOT need to purchase honor cords.  These are included in the membership fee.  Once you’ve filled out the information and paid the membership fee, you are a member. 

Is there a formal induction ceremony?
A formal induction ceremony is held each year.  You will receive your honor cords and membership certificate.

Do I need to purchase honor cords?
You do not need to purchase these from the STTI website.  They are included in the membership fees.  You will receive your honor cords at induction.

Do I need to purchase tickets to the induction ceremony?
You will need to purchase tickets for your guests to attend the ceremony.  The tickets cover the cost of their brunch.  Contact the Gamma Secretary, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), to purchase tickets.  You will not need a ticket for yourself.

Does my membership in STTI ever lapse?
Once you are inducted, you are a member for life.  In order to stay an active member and receive member benefits you will need to renew your membership yearly.  A membership renewal form will be mailed to you approximately two months prior to your membership expiration date.  For more information, we encourage you to read the FAQs about membership on the STTI website.
