On Saturday, October 8, 2011, the Sigma Theta Tau Gamma Chapter hosted an Activity Night at the Iowa City Shelter House.
The Shelter House is a non-profit organization that provides housing and supportive services to the homeless in the Iowa City area. The Shelter House houses 70 residents of all ages and backgrounds.
Vanessa Kurtz, a senior BSN student and member of Sigma Theta Tau, is also a member of an improv comedy group called Paperback Rhino. She brought five other members with her, and they performed an outstanding improv comedy show for the audience. The residents had a wonderful time laughing and interacting with the performers. Sigma Theta Tau Gamma Chapter would like to especially thank the Paperback Rhino club for volunteering their time!
At the intermission of the show, volunteers served root beer floats to all of the residents. These were a big hit as well! Overall, the Activity Night was a great success.
Thanks to all those who volunteered their time, it was greatly appreciated!
