The Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau hosted a successful birthday party kit service event on Monday, November 7, 2011 at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. 35 volunteers designed and assembled 10 large birthday party kits with donated supplies and items purchased with monetary donations.

Please see more photos below!
Not only the birthday kid will benefit from the birthday party kit, but each kit has enough supplies for siblings and other children at the shelters to participate in the celebration. Each child will receive about 20 birthday cards, which will help make his or her day extra special!

Anne Bye delivered kits to the Ronald McDonald House and the Iowa City Shelter house. Both places were very excited about the delivery!

We greatly appreciate all those who made this event successful! The Gamma Chapter Community Service Board, the volunteers (early admit freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, doctoral student, and two Gamma board members) who created the kits, everyone who donated the items to fill them, and the Daily Iowan which featured an article about the event!
